Consumer Price Index

One of the most important price indices. It measures the development of prices of consumer goods and services and is the basis for measuring inflation. It is a weighted average of price changes in selected products and services that are ascertained every month. The average weights express the importance of the respective product and service groups in household consumption and are derived from the structure of household expenditures.
